The coverage is horrendous every time if done by hand. Curious to hear how other painters feel about S-W whites in general.

I’m going to tell you the truth about cabinet pa I’m going to tell you the truth about cabinet painting. Can you paint your own cabinets just like a professional by following a YouTube video, or reading a DIY blog and make them look like they were done by a pro, not a homeowner? The true honest answer to that question is absolutely not a chance. What they will most likely look like is better than before, and that you painted them yourself.
Well thank you very much. Well thank you very much.
Spent the week painting over red oxide primer on s Spent the week painting over red oxide primer on structural steel beams. Kind of difficult to see, but the first photo is the red oxide primer.

The homeowner made the mistake of priming and leaving it that way over the years because he liked the look. Primer needs to be protected like anything else or it fails. He has reapplied primer over the years which kind of created layers like an onion. You’d scrape some and another layer was right below it.

I applied Sherwin Williams Pro Industrial DTM. Eggshell. Color is Umber Rust.

Starting this one today. There’s no other style Starting this one today. There’s no other style of home that I prefer to paint than a ranch style home.

This one’s getting a very drastic color change. Any guesses?

After removing nearly all the paint from the stucco, which I forgot to photograph at that stage, this house is done. New color on stucco and trim. The prep was crazy. Patching crumbling stucco, scraping, scraping, more scraping, in conjunction with washing many times over. Patching, and sanding; you name it, it was done.

Process of painting: The entire house was primed, caulked, patched, and primed some more. Eaves and window casings were sprayed with Sherwin Williams Rejuvenate, stucco was sprayed and rolled with Conflex elastomeric, and sprayed and rolled again with Sherwin Williams Emerald Rain Refresh. Woodwork was top coated with Sherwin Williams Emerald, and the front door was painted with Emerald Urethane. As always, nothing but the best.

This home was washed, scraped and this process was done many times over. The stucco was primed, and I feathered in all the remaining paint with elastomeric stucco patch, and filled in the spiderweb of cracks. All raw wood was primed with Prime Rx and caulked in with Shermax elastomeric caulking. It was sprayed and rolled with elastomeric and top coated with Sherwin Williams Emerald. The porch was pressure washed and scraped and painted with Armorcoat Treadplex. The front door was painted with Emerald Urethane.
A house this size would be a five hour pressure wa A house this size would be a five hour pressure wash ordinarily. I’m on day five because of the condition of this paint.

If you’ve ever dealt with peeling paint on 1930s stucco, you know how bad it can get, and this is the worst I have ever had.

You can scrape it a little, but the only real way to remove it is pressure washing with a orbital tip. The stuff goes everywhere, forty feet through the air, and this landscaping is near impossible to drop even with netting. I spend half my day removing paint, and the other half cleaning paint chips up best I can.

When I get a really brutal exterior, I think nothing will top it. I am right there again, I don’t think I’ll ever have one this bad again.
